The next quilt in line... for Shawn's room

These are the fabrics for the next quilt I am making.  It will be a lop-sided log cabin with lights and darks.  The green at the top will be the center square and the black fabric with the shells is for the outer border.  There will be an inner border but I don't know which fabric yet.  Here is a AI sketch of what it will look like, it isn't finalized as I didn't have time to make it perfect but you get the idea.  I am so looking forward to getting started.  I washed the fabrics since it is going on a bed.  I don't ever wash for my art quilts. well... I will have to add my sketch later, it is bogging the computer to make a jpg. frustration, it isn't working.  will have to try another time.

Just a flange and binding...

Well, Day 1 of the new job is done.  Thankfully I finished the wave quilt yesterday so I met my deadline.  Deadline's are a good thing, very motivating.  Although I appreciate a poster on my nieces wall that says "I love deadlines.  I love that wooshing sound as they go flying by!"  Never the less.  Here is the finished product that will reside in my favorite neighbors apartment in Russia.  A little bit of Florida sunshine in that quilt to brighten up their wall.  I can't seem to figure out yet how to arrange these photos and put text around them but I think you can get the idea of what each photo is.  It isn't very complex.  The wave is a bargello technique while the area around it is using triangles.  It was fun but I am glad to be done.  I decided to not put a border on it, everything I tried just didn't seem right so I over dyed a black and white dot batik with green and blue for the binding and added a black flange just to have it outlined.  The scripture reference is when Jesus calms the storm.  My waves are calm, friendly waves, just like after Jesus put the wind and waves in their proper place.

Yay! The Florida Wave is on its way to completion.

I now have to decide on wether to do a border but I am so glad that I have all these pieces together.  If I had more time, I might have changed a few pieces but it is what it is.  There is always that moment when you look at a piece and say ummmm... I could fix that but oh well.
