If I was a good blogger, which I am not, I would have posted some more updates of this latest quilt along the way.  But I didn't so here it is.  The "Roll Tide" quilt which is a depiction of the Bryant-Denny stadium the way it used to look judging from the million photos that I have perused in the process of doing this project.  I think it turned pretty good.  I still would not hang it on my wall.  War Eagle!

Alabama Stadium Quilt In Progress

Full view

This is a close up view of the front of the stadium.  It doesn't look like much yet but it is coming together nicely.  The thread painting that will hold it all together will add a lot to define and highlight.    There is still much to be done.  This is just the beginning.  It is fun despite it being from ugh that other Alabama school.  War Eagle!

snakeskin for Shawn

This is the lopsided log cabin for Shawn with the flying gees at the ends but... there is still a checkerboard border to be added and a skinny inner border and the darker outer border.  Progress is slow as there isn't much time to spare.

And.... I am making another quilt for sale for an Alabama fan.  (yes indeed, Go Tigers and War Eagle and all that!) Progress to be shown as progress is made.  I made the pattern and have selected some fabrics from the stash but the hunt is on for some other needed fabric to finish it out.

Something old to share

This is a quilt I made for a card that didn't get turned into a card...yet.  I really like it and thought since I am not done with the current quilt under way, I would share this one.  I call it "With Love from Florida"

Here is the first half of the next quilt I am making, it sort of looks like one of those ribbons but this is just half, if you take the image and mirror it you get what the whole will look like.  See below...

Of course I am a blog novice and cannot seem to get the two halves to fit together but you get the idea.  Then we have flying geese at the ends and checks all around before the final border to go.  It is for Shawn's room, he says it looks like a snake skin, hmmm.

The next quilt in line... for Shawn's room

These are the fabrics for the next quilt I am making.  It will be a lop-sided log cabin with lights and darks.  The green at the top will be the center square and the black fabric with the shells is for the outer border.  There will be an inner border but I don't know which fabric yet.  Here is a AI sketch of what it will look like, it isn't finalized as I didn't have time to make it perfect but you get the idea.  I am so looking forward to getting started.  I washed the fabrics since it is going on a bed.  I don't ever wash for my art quilts. well... I will have to add my sketch later, it is bogging the computer to make a jpg. frustration, it isn't working.  will have to try another time.

Just a flange and binding...

Well, Day 1 of the new job is done.  Thankfully I finished the wave quilt yesterday so I met my deadline.  Deadline's are a good thing, very motivating.  Although I appreciate a poster on my nieces wall that says "I love deadlines.  I love that wooshing sound as they go flying by!"  Never the less.  Here is the finished product that will reside in my favorite neighbors apartment in Russia.  A little bit of Florida sunshine in that quilt to brighten up their wall.  I can't seem to figure out yet how to arrange these photos and put text around them but I think you can get the idea of what each photo is.  It isn't very complex.  The wave is a bargello technique while the area around it is using triangles.  It was fun but I am glad to be done.  I decided to not put a border on it, everything I tried just didn't seem right so I over dyed a black and white dot batik with green and blue for the binding and added a black flange just to have it outlined.  The scripture reference is when Jesus calms the storm.  My waves are calm, friendly waves, just like after Jesus put the wind and waves in their proper place.

Yay! The Florida Wave is on its way to completion.

I now have to decide on wether to do a border but I am so glad that I have all these pieces together.  If I had more time, I might have changed a few pieces but it is what it is.  There is always that moment when you look at a piece and say ummmm... I could fix that but oh well.

Sometimes I just need to sew something,...anything.

Tada! these are "green" shopping bags made from rice bags.  A quick and easy project to recycle and reuse and kind of fun to do when you just need to sew something and make it quick.  You can do these out of dogfood bags also but those you have to wash first!  I don't have a dog so rice is it.  The piecefulkwilter blog has instructions.

Also, here are my latest pair of earrings with my newest favorite technique.  So Fun!  It looks like a mini quilt and one of the squares looks like a mini hurricane.

Hi mom, since you are the only follower, let's see when you read this and let me know about it. I really am unskilled at this blogging thing. I will post a pic of "The Wave" tomorrow so you can see the progress.

Choose to fly!

I recently finished a quilt for a Parkinson's Fundraiser that will benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research that is going to be held at my church. I titled it "Choose to fly! based on the birds that are trapped in the cubes. Isaiah 40:31 promises that God will lift us up on wings like eagles but we need to choose to allow God in our life to do that. The upper right cubes are a bird that is on it's way to flying away from being held back. I hope you like it.

Tax time makes me crazy

I have ignored this blogging thing for such a long time, it seems pointless but I shall attempt to take a little time to do it again. I am trying to prepare the tax form schedule C and it isn't as simple as I would wish since the supplies don't count until you actually use them or sell them. Hmmm.... to do the right thing requires using those little grey cells but one must always strive to do the right thing.
Here is a photo of a recent quilt I made under commission for a memorial quilt for a set of twin boys. It is called "Being transformed by Shekinah Glory"
